There are men in whom God
has called, and then there are men in whom God has Divinely chosen to preach good tidings, bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim
liberty to the captives. That man is Evangelist Shawn D. Gethers. He is a man that loves the Lord, and God's people.
He cherishes his walk with the Lord, with uncompromising integrity, a man truly dedicated to the Kingdom Agenda.
Elder Gethers was born and raised in Jersey
City, New Jersey. Destined for ministry with the call of God upon his life Evangelist Gethers recieved Christ at an early
age. He was raised in the things of God and at a young age his family knew that the hand of God was upon him. At the time
that he was born the Lord spoke to his mother while lying on her hospital bed and said " I'm going to use your baby in a many
of ways ". That prophetic word has come to pass time and time again. As a child Gethers, was known as little Shawn running
up and down the aisle singing and preaching in the local churches. At the age of 7 he preached his first message taken from
John 3;
" Ye must be born again ". There are many whom
God used to deposit within him the things of God. While other kids were outside playing Gethers was in the house studying
the word of God; preparing messages and preaching them to the kids in school. He developed a study life style at a young age.
On May 16, 1988, Gethers entered the ministry as one of the youngest ministers in his hometown. God blessed his ministry and
doors began to open wide for him as he traveled locally. God began to stretch him abroad traveling to Russellville, South
Carolina at the age of 17 to do his first out of state revival in August 1990 a week revival turned into two weeks as the
multitudes came from all over the hear the word of the Lord and 102 souls came to the Lord. Sir Shawn, many call him has always
had a great hunger for the word of God and that caused him to reach out for christian education attending T.E.T Christian
Academy, Cornerstone Bible School and Universal Bible Education.
This man of God is the CEO and President of S. D. Gethers
Ministries (established 1994) and Dap Media Solutions (established 1998). He has been blessed to minister on the same platforms
with and/or for some of the greatest in ministry; including Pastor Shirley Caesar, Bishop Noel Jones, Pastor Jackie McCullough,
Bishop F. Showell, Evangelist Dorothy Norwood and many others.
Elder Gethers has been privileged to travel to 21 states
to preach the gospel. He is a recording artist in his own right to have recorded two CD's and one live video. He is also
the author of two books and is presently working on his third book, to be released in the fall 2006.
Through his dedication to ministry Elder Gethers
has served in the following capacity: sunday school teacher, minister of music, youth pastor, asst. pastor, pastor (short term) and national evangelist for New Generation
Churches.
